We would like to inform you about a Workshop on "Physics-based fracture and damage mechanics"in Antalya/Turkey, May 15-17, 2013.

The workshop is co-organized by the Joint Research Centre (European Commission) and TOBB University of Economics and Technology. The Workshop is funded by the European Commission’s Integration and Enlargement Action. The participants from target countries* (citizen of or working in a target country) can be fully financially supported by the European Commission.

At this moment, Wolfgang Brocks (CAU, Germany), Jonas Faleskog (Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden), John W. Hutchinson (Harvard University, USA), Jean-Baptiste Leblond (Université Paris VI, France), Boris Margolin (Prometey, Russia),Thomas Pardoen (UCL, Belgium) and Maxime Sauzay (CEA Saclay, France) have agreed to give keynote lectures.

A number of issues will be addressed such as ductile fracture models, cohesive zone models, transferability and constraint, fracture of coatings, irradiation damage of reactor pressure vessel steels, grain boundary microcrack nucleation.

In addition to keynote lectures, there will be room for several participants to give oral presentations as well as a Poster session. The number of participants, as well as the number of Grants, is limited. In case of too many registrants/Grant applications, preference will be given to those who submit an Abstract, for oral or poster presentations. The Abstracts (in word format, not exceeding 400 words) are to be submitted by e-mail to the JRC contact persons. The deadline for Abstract is March 15. The complete list of target countries and detailed information on the workshop is given in the attached flyer as well as at the website of the workshop: http://iwpmeo.etu.edu.tr/ . Do not hesitate to contact the organizing committee for any questions.

Yours sincerely,
